Training

Lost Penguins will partake in a number of official training events, however the majority of training is Lost Penguins own.

Lost Penguins own training takes several forms; 50ish Events, The Big Chill, The Tyre Pull and The Big Eat.  On these pages you’ll be able to see what we think we should be doing and what we’re actually achieving.

Roller Skiing

Learning to roller ski is the latest exercise the Penguins have taken to.  Roller skiing is a close simulation of the nordic skiing we'll be doing in some of the race - where the terrian permits.  On 28th August 2007 Lost Penguins met in Hyde Park for a Roller Skiing lesson with Rollerski Co's instructor Iain Ballentine (competitor in British Cross Country Ski Championships 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 and fastest non-military skier in 15k classic in 2002). 

Roller skiing is great fun, if not pretty tricky - during our first try there were more than a couple of incidents with picnicers and dust bins, and we did well at prooving the benefit of knee pads and helmets.
